2.05 Haydock
This is an interesting race featuring a few horses which we’ve
backed already this season. I thought Go Far was overpriced at 100/1 a few
weeks ago when he ran a good race for us but died out very quickly before the
line. It’s easy to think that both he and Cruise Tothelimit could be overpriced
again today at 22/1 and 25/1 respectively, neither quite warrant a bet. 8/1
favourite Out Do and 11/1 shot Muthmir make up the shortlist along with the two
aforementioned longshots, but I’ll be siding today with Trader Jack.
It will pay to have horses on our side tomorrow which are
versatile around going, as the weather tomorrow seems unpredictable and going
changes are likely. Trader Jack is such a horse, who has run to a high standard
without picking up a win since 2011. However, his subsequent performances, in a
range of different conditions, all suggest that it’s time for him to pick up a
win soon, and I feel that this could be his day. 10/1 seems fair.

us two bets – you can see the analysis in full here.

I’ll be having two bets again in this race – Night Song and
Gathering Power (both 14/1) could both be horses to watch over the coming
season but there are two others in the field which are better opportunities
today – Joyeuse 5/1 and March 9/1.
Joyeuse drops back in trip today which should solve plenty of problems for Frankel’s
half-sister – she often runs keenly and ruins her chances by wasting her energy
early on over longer distances. This shouldn’t be a worry today, though, back
at 6f after taking a shot at the 1000 Guineas. She won a listed race over 6f as
part of an eyecatching 2yo campaign and arguably deserves to be favourite
today.
March represents a bit of value, a 9/1 shot unlikely to race
if the ground gets any softer than it is now. She was seen at her best last
year when winning over 5f in May, followed by two impressive places when
stepping up in class over the following months. She looks like the type of
filly who could bring a lot to the table – the problem with fillies, though, is
that you never know whether they will!
Joyeuse 5/1
March E/W 9/1

It’s the favourite that makes the most appeal here as
Bilimbi 3/1 is a quickly improving horse who should set the standard for the
others to live up to. He should be able for a firm surface if it does turn out
that way – however, as a 2yo, he was at his most impressive on soft ground. He
looks a really exciting prospect this season, and I’m looking forward to seeing
him today and over the coming months.
Bilimbi 3/1

The Irish 2000 Guineas was the first ever race we used our
trends analysis on one year ago, and we started with a 3/1 winner in the form
of Aidan O’Brien’s Magician. This year, the trends analysis has again given us
one bet – you can see the analysis in full here.
Kingman 4/5 (NAP)
As always, the very best of luck and remember only to bet
what you can afford to lose – don’t chase your losses, and bet sensibly and
responsibly. Enjoy.
